College of Engineering Industry-Sponsored Senior Design Project Submittal Form

Please use this form to submit projects for senior design teams in Agricultural, Bio, Chemical, Computer Science, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering at Penn State. In order to be guaranteed consideration for the Fall 2008 semester, submission must be received by August 15, 2008 for full consideration. Your attendance will be required at the Project Kickoff, which will be held 28 August 2008 at the Nittany Lion Inn.

Budget: A donation of $2500 is requested for a project team. Additional groups working on the same project cost $1250 per team. Because this is a tax-deductible charitable contribution, no guarantees can be made on project outcomes, other than "Best Effort". Students are provided a working budget of $1000 to cover direct expenses. The remainder covers overhead expenses of the participating departments and their facilities (public events, supplies, equipment replacement, teaching assistant wages, etc.). Additional funds may be required from the sponsor for specialized equipment, other unique project expenses, or for intellectual property ownership rights (as noted below).

There is no extra charge if you use our standard confidentiality agreement, otherwise a $250 administrative fee is required. Check this box if you have any plans to file a patent in the near future and you want to insure that your invention is not disclosed prematurely.

An administrative fee of $250 is required for Intellectual Property Ownership rights. Note that this may also discourage students from choosing your project.
